So you want to learn how to play CLASSIC POKER but you don’t know how? Well, it is well known that poker has different versions like most casino games these days, but when it comes to the classic game, it’s usually 5 card stud. Most poker players in Canada who grew up watching poker on TV or playing with friends will know how to play this game, though it never hurts to refresh your memory.
Generally speaking, no matter what variant of poker you choose to play, there are basic rules that apply to all versions, from Texas Holdem and 5 card stud, in standard form or poker online. The basic rules determine the value of the cards and what hands are stronger than others. So if you want to do it right, read below the four stages you have to go through, in order to have a good command of CLASSIC POKER:
1) As mentioned above, poker players have to understand the game. The first thing you need to do is to realize that poker is played with a standard pack of cards. The pack is divided into four “suits”: spades, hearts, clubs and diamonds. The suit doesn’t affect the card’s value.
2) Dealing the cards – after each player had placed his bet, the dealer deals each player five cards face down. The dealer generally deals the cards clockwise, whereby he is the last to obtain his cards. Once everybody have obtained their cards the players check them and the player to the left of the dealer places his bet first. At this point the minimal bet that is necessary in order to participate in the round is determined. The decision on whether to participate should depend on the cards you were dealt.
3) The player to the left of the dealer decides to show his cards or to quit. If he decides not to bet because his hand isn’t strong enough, he is entitled to “fold”. If he does decide to show his cards he will bet according to the hand he can get or according to the hand he might still obtain. The rest of the players follow and have the same option of either folding, matching the bet or raising it.
4) After the first round is completed, you and the rest of the players can request a replacement for up to three cards from the original hand. After everybody has performed the replacement another betting round takes place and the game continues. A casino online that accepts Canadian players will most likely follow this format too.
What makes online poker special in this regard is Poker Bonuses offered to players; these are hard to come by in traditional casinos, so enjoy them where and when you can.
